La película Jackass 2.5 se estrenará gratis en Internet.

Será la primera vez que un gran estudio (Paramount) ofrece una película en la Red antes de lanzarla en DVD y sin pasar por los cines. Su estreno será la primera prueba real para la distribución online de material cinematográfico.

La película se emitirá gratuitamente del 19 al 31 de diciembre con tecnología Silverlight, que Microsoft pretende introducir frente al formato Flash de YouTube. La emisión contendrá publicidad al comienzo y al final de la misma para financiar el evento.

Jackass 2.5 será la tercera entrega de la serie de películas del programa de MTV calificadas por algunos como "un espectáculo repulsivo" y por otros "una carcajada continua". Sus señas de identidad con sus bromas salvajes se mantienen: "Hay más vómitos, desnudos y heces. Todo lo que los consumidores quieren ver", prometen en la productora.

Quizá hubiera sido más indicado para este experimento la elección de un título "más comercial", aunque lo importante es lo que señala Thomas Lesinski, presidente de la división digital de Paramount: "Si la idea funciona, podría cambiar la distribución digital y los contenidos tradicionales".
